Aleksandra Gavric

Welcome, to my endeavour towards human development and the cultivation of well being. On my journey of promoting the  growth of healthy minds and practising as a Registered Psychologist, I have received a Master's Degree of Counselling  from the City University of Seattle and completed a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Carleton University.

As part of my work I have attained specialized training in Trauma and EMDR.

 

I have worked in a variety of different clinical settings, including an inpatient addictions and recovery treatment centre. I am currently in the role of a clinical counsellor at an outpatient trauma, addictions and mental health clinic with first responders and other professionals. I have received additional training in Eye Movement Desensitization (EMDR): Ego State Therapy Interventions to Stabilize your Most Wounded, Belligerent & Dissociative Clients,Healing the Heart of Complex Trauma and Dissociation with EMDR and Ego State Therapy, Looking Through the Eyes of Trauma and Dissociation, Imaginal Nurturing, The Embodied Self: Somatic Methods for EMDR Practitioners, How to work with Shame, Treating Trauma Master Series, How to work with Clients Who are Stuck, How to Foster Post Traumatic Growth, Practical Brain Focused Strategies to Work with Depression, Compassionate Inquiry, Flash Technique, Trauma and Attachment, Trauma Care, Depression Care, Goal Management Training, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Art Therapy.

I provide counselling services to children and adults who are experiencing a wide range of presenting concerns. Areas of specialty include trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), developmental trauma, depression, anxiety, adjustment/life transition- related difficulties, interpersonal problems, emotional dysregulation, grief and loss and chronic pain. I offer a full range of counselling services in addition to group therapy and workshops. These services include individual counselling, assessment and psychoeducation.

My therapeutic approach to clients is integrative. I emphasize client collaboration in order to address presenting symptoms and individualized goals for treatment. I utilize an attachment and mindfulness based, client centered framework to provide an emotionally safe and compassionate environment or building trust and therapeutic rapport.

My therapeutic interventions are further informed by evidence based practice. 

Interventions may include, EMDR, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic interpersonal, and trauma focused techniques. These techniques assist each client in developing greater self-awareness as well as to facilitate self-regulation, psychological resilience and personal growth. 

I am a Professional Member in good standing of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).
